The Solar-Powered Snowblower–A Perfect Government Project

Do not think about, write about or deal with  human behavior without determining the effects of incentives.

Franklin said “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch….”

Democracy is like two workhorses and four cats voting on who will pull the plow.

"Voting for unemployment insurance helps people and creates jobs. And voting against it does not," President Obama said while advocating for the extension of unemployment benefits Tuesday: "Congress should pass this bipartisan plan right away and I will sign it right away. And more than 1 million Americans across the country will feel a little hope right away. And hope is contagious."

Subsidizing unemployment creates jobs? The laws of the Universe have been reversed! Those who are smarter than we are, to wit, politicians, need to point out such things to us. When a politician drops a dumbbell, apparently it floats upwards. It’s not economics, it’s hope. Sounds like part of a campaign promise about hope and change. All these positive emotions, yet the standard of living continues to fall.

When I was blowing snow, snow caused by Global Warming, Climate Change and Evil Capitalists, it came to me that a lot of Green Jobs could be created by creating a Solar-Powered Snowblower. This project has the potential for creating new technology and prosperity all ‘round, as have all the Green Projects thus far.

Here is the outline of this outstanding program: A vast array of solar panels (solar power is scarce in the winter) will charge hundreds of batteries. When the time for snowblowing comes these batteries will be placed on a purpose-built electric vehicle which will follow the snowblower, attached to it by thick electric cables. The battery-carrying vehicle will require a driver, thence doubling manpower requirements of snowblowing and helping reduce unemployment. I could wrap this up for, say, $750,000 per unit plus$280M development costs.

Something that now costs about $27 per hr which includes capital costs and fuel, excluding my labor which as all government employees know, is free because I’m an entrepreneur. The $4, 126.00 per hour for my plan compares favorably and is environmentally friendly and, as in all Green Projects, costs will go down as the technology improves. Let’s do it. The grant application is in.
